Qantas accepts enrolment in accordance with the stated conditions and requirements for each of its courses. Restrictions to enrolment, if any, will be clearly stated.

Access and equity
|
Qantas complies with the principles of anti-discrimination and equal opportunity. Applicants can therefore expect to be treated respectfully and equally in accordance with government legislation and Qantas policy. Staff and course participants are made aware of their responsibilities. We endeavour to provide valuable training and assessment experiences that enhance the skills and knowledge of all participants in a manner that is conducive to their learning style and individual needs.

Appeals and complaints
|
Candidates have the right to place an appeal against an assessment process or assessment outcome. Appeals are handled in accordance with the principles of Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Standards and our Appeals Procedure.
Our complaints management is guided by the 13 elements of effective complaints management identified in the Australian Standard on Complaints Handling AS4269-1995. These are
1. Commitment to efficient and effective complaints management
2. Fairness to both the complainant and the person against whom the complaint is made.
3. Adequate resources to support persons involved in the complaints process, including a person with the designated role for receiving and managing complaints
4. Visible promotion of our complaints management process.
5. Access to the complaints guidelines and complaint form.
6. Assistance to anyone wishing to formulate or lodge a complaint.
7. Prompt response to complaints.
8. No internal charges for complaints handling, subject to statutory requirements.
9. A complaints management process which seeks to provide a remedy.
10. Systematic recording of complaints and outcomes.
11. Analysis of complaints in order to form effective risk assessment and service improvement.
12. Strategic and operational reporting of complaints received and complaints management.
13. Review of the complaints management process in line with AQTF audit reviews.
Course participants also have the right to take any unresolved complaint to the State Training Authority in the State in which Qantas RTO is registered.

Assessment processes
|
Assessments will vary from course to course. They may include assignments, knowledge assessments or quizzes, testimonials, observations or references of various kinds. Assessments may be completed on-line or be in other formats depending on your course. Each course will have a specified completion time which must be adhered to unless there is a request for a special consideration and/or extension of time. Refer to the Extension of Time and Special Consideration section of this policy information.
Assessments undertaken at a distance may utilise the services of an external supervisor or assessor. Assessment kits will be provided to guide the learner and the supervisor.
Candidates have the opportunity to resit or resubmit a second assessment at no extra charge. Additional charges will apply for third and subsequent assessments where permitted.

Concessions and Exemptions
|
Fee concessions or exemptions may apply if a participant is eligible for special Government Funded Programs, or where special concessions are granted for group bookings or training under contract.
Course fee concessions may also apply when a participant is eligible for a credit transfer for part of the course.

Credit Transfer
|
Credit transfer recognises the equivalence of a course you have previously completed with part or whole of a course provided by Qantas College. The provision for credit transfer will not unfairly advantage or disadvantage an enrollee from entering a course. Qantas College may design courses and programs with deliberate articulation pathways. Disciplinary procedures
|
The College reserves the right to exclude from any course or program under its control and without refund, any participant whose behaviour is deemed to be disruptive, discriminatory, dangerous, intimidating or harassing toward a College staff member, another course participant or others who are involved or engaged in the activities.
Similarly, the College reserves the right to terminate without refund, the enrolment of any participant found cheating or plagiarising. Refer also to Conduct and Ethics.

Extension of time and special consideration
|
Each course will have a specified completion time or date. Should the time not be sufficient for some reason, you will be required to submit an application for extension. Cause must be shown for why a further extension is warranted. Failure to comply with the set completion date without approved extension will result in the expiry of enrolment status. Re-enrolment after this will require the payment of another full fee. To apply for an Extension of time and special consideration refer to your trainer or tutor and complete the Extension of Time application form.

Fees and charges
|
All fees and charges are disclosed with the course information. Please check these carefully. Payment of a course fee indicates your intention to enrol and complete the course requirements. Acceptance by Qantas College of your fee payment indicates our acceptance of your enrolment and commitment to the nominated course or program.
Initial course fees include the issue of an original certificate parchment and/or transcript.
Should you lose your original certificate, re-issue prices will apply. You can check the cost of these with Qantas College at the time.

Flexible delivery
|
There are many ways to learn and meet course outcomes. Qantas College offers classroom, online, distance and on-the-job training. With flexible or blended learning programs, you can work at your own pace or in your own time, balancing work, study and free time. You can work alone or with groups. These groups may be in a face-to-face classroom setting or in a virtual classroom environment. Assessment is often designed to suit individual learning needs. Check out the delivery options for the course in which you intend to enrol.

Learner Support for Language, Literacy and Numeracy support
|
When applicable the College may require candidates to undergo a language, literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment. The purpose of this is to promote a successful outcome for the learner, and to identify extra learning support which may be needed. Such assessments may be at the student's expense depending upon the course. Successful enrolment may depend on the outcome of such assessments.

Legislation, regulations and standards
|
Qantas College and Qantas Registered Training Organisation comply with Commonwealth and State Government legislation relevant to its operations and the courses it provides. This includes:

Other legislation may apply to specific courses, e.g. liquor legislation and responsible service of alcohol, dangerous goods, use of plant and machinery.
As a Registered Training Organisation, Qantas is also required to comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework Standards.

Mutual Recognition
|
Qantas College will give recognition to AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by another RTO, providing the certification meets the correct training package and qualification requirements. Participants wishing to have a prior qualification recognized for credit transfer or RPL will need to present the original document, or provide a certified signed copy to the College. The copied document is to contain the words “I have sighted the original document and verify that this is a true copy of the document sighted by me'; (signature) and date, and identifier details of the signatory (eg name, position, address and/or telephone no. of the signatory). If you have changed your name from that on the document, you will also need to supply a certified copy of the name change evidence (eg marriage certificate). The following parties can certify and sign the copy:
- an registered accountant
- a bank manager, but not a manager of a bank travel centre
- a barrister, solicitor or patent attorney
- a credit union branch manager
- a commissioner for declarations
- a Justice of the Peace
- a medical practitioner
- a police officer in charge of a police station, or of the rank of sergeant and above
- a postal manager
- a pharmacist
- a principal of an Australian secondary college, high school or primary school.
Documents may also be certified by an authorised officer of Qantas College. |

Occupational Health and Safety
|
Most vocational courses include training and/or instructions on relevant OH&S issues. It is everybody’s responsibility to ensure our learning environments and workplaces are safe places to be. Qantas provides its staff and course participants with relevant information about maintaining a safe environment, ergonomics, emergency and exit procedures, accident prevention, risk management, incident reporting and other appropriate information. In the event of an accident or incident, your tutor must complete an accident report form and forward to the College. For face-to-face classes, First Aid Kits are located at all training sites. Posters will show location of fire extinguishers, exists and assembly points.

Participant Support
|
Students with special needs should contact the College or Tutor to enable such arrangements to be made. If additional costs are incurred for such support it may be the responsibility of the participant to meet these costs.

Privacy and confidentiality
|
Qantas College is committed to protecting personal and private information of others. Information and records are required to be kept, but access to this information is controlled in order to protect the privacy and rights of the individual. Skills Recognition including:
- recognition of prior learning (RPL)

You can apply for Skills Recognition for all or part of any accredited courses. Skills Recognition processes differ between courses and programs so please contact your tutor or Qantas College for further information about evidence requirements for individual courses. Details of the general process can be down-loaded here. The following documentation will assist you in preparing an RPL application.

Refunds
|
You will receive a full refund of your fees if the College cancels your course. If you cancel your enrolment refunds may not apply in all situations. Please select your courses carefully. As intellectual property cannot be returned with a guarantee that it has not been used, course fees cannot be refunded once correspondence study materials have been dispatched or, in the case of on-line courses, the material has been accessed. Fees may be refunded for subjects not yet attempted depending on the time of application to withdraw. All refunds will be subject to an administration fee. No administration fees will be refundable.

Welfare and guidance
|
Students who have disabilities or who encounter hardship during any enrolment should contact the College. The College will endeavour at all time to exercise compassion and discretion to assist and guide candidates that may need support.

Withdrawal
|
Students who wish to withdraw from all or part of the course or program after enrolment must complete and submit the "Withdrawal from Enrolment" form. This may be accessed by clicking here.
